When we arrived last night, Trudy's dad and wife, Bud and Sandy Gallagher, picked us up. Although we hadnt met in person before, with Facebook correspondence, we recognized each other easily. Bud provided a wealth of information throughout the months leading up to our trip. He and Sandy took us to a wonderful local restaurant called Cinco Podrillos (5 Stallions) where the bought us an authentic Mexican meal. It was so yummy. (I think I was still recovering from the experience at the Mexico City airport to think of taking photos.) We talked a lot about the food, the area and the culture here.
They drove mom and I to Moonie's with some groceries, water, blankets and a map. I'm looking forward to our next visit with these fabulous humans!

Today, our first full day, consisted of a leisurely morning of exploring Moonie's beautiful home and befriending our dog-away-from-home, Kelly. We learned what a Casita is. Her and her husband have 3 Casitas as part of thier home. They are guest accomodations. Ours is fully equipped with a livingroom, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. It is lovely.

There is also a games room, a pool and an outdoor bar. The gardens are spectacular, although we are told that it is the cold season and everything is much more lush in the summer. How is that possible!?Moonie took us out for lunch with her friend Gin. There was much chatter and laughter with these two lovelies. Afterwards we helped pack up some belongings from an estate that were being donated to the Community Centre and sold at thier shop. Two other volunteers joined us and afterwards we gathered for a glass of wine with more chatter and laughter.

Moonie cooked us a pork roast for supper. She is an incredible woman. I am going to love getting to know her.
Tomorrow morning we will go to the Community Centre and visit Chapala to explore the town and get some dinero.

So glad that your time is already rewarding. You are going to be one of the ones that loves Mexico, I can tell already.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome because I look forwarding volunteering/working with you in the future. Go Gail, go mom.
